The University of Agder offers more than 150 study programs. The Department of Engineering is responsible for all the traditional engineering areas at the University, in addition to an MSc-programs in industrial management. Engineering science is rapidly growing, both in terms of student influx, programs offered and research effort. Five research groups are responsible for all the activities at the department. All groups are in close contact with public and industrial partners, who offer exciting projects for students and cutting-edge research for the scientific staff. The groups are: (1) aerospace (offers the only aerospace program in Norway; the group cooperates closely with the aerospace and the shipping industry), (2) civil engineering (handles areas within structural engineering, design & technical planning, as well as energy design), (3) renewable energy and electrical power (handles areas concerning energy production and distribution, as well as electronics), (4) industrial economy and management '(is a joint effort, including the Faculty of Economics and Social sciences) and (5) mechatronics ( presently the most expansive group at this department).
